Job Summary

Position Overview: Nashville based, remote, part-time (24 hours/week) non-profit executive director
Organization Overview: We are a small Nashville nonprofit helping women who are incarcerated or healing from prostitution, trafficking, and addiction learn and internalize a 5-step structured framework for decision-making, goal-setting, and problem-solving to help them change their lives as they re-enter the community. Students are matched one-on-one with volunteer mentors who support the students in integrating what they learn into their own lives. We serve approximately 48 women total each year, half at the Tennessee Prison for Women and half at Thistle Farms. Learn more about our group at www.betterdecisions.org

Job Responsibilities

Fundraising and Community Development (75%)
● Responsible for all fundraising efforts for the organization:
● Identify and research funding opportunities from individuals, congregations, government agencies, and foundations that align with the organization’s mission.
● Cultivate and maintain strong, positive relationships with current and prospective funding sources.
● Develop and implement a broader fundraising strategy that may include individual donors and special events.
● Manage grant lifecycle: create, submit, track, and report for grant proposals; aligned with deadlines set forth by granting agencies.
● Speak and participate in community events in order to elevate organization presence in the Nashville area, recruit donors, and recruit volunteers.
● Manage, track, and maintain funding sources and donor relationships using existing donor database.

Operations (25%)
• Oversee seasonal program manager of fall and spring class cycles at Thistle Farms (TF), the Debra K. Johnson Rehabilitation Center (DJRC) to ensure implementation of program.
• Manage volunteer engagement:
• Initial volunteer intake and onboarding.
• Develop and communicate monthly newsletters.
• Plan and execute annual volunteer appreciation event.
• Maintain volunteer contacts using existing donor database.
• Manage administration responsibilities of organization:
• Collaborate with Bookkeeper and Board Treasurer to develop, review, and approve annual budget.
• Responding to e-mails through general e-mail box.
• Maintain weekly progress report (planner, communication, etc.) to the executive committee.

● Plan and execute monthly board meetings in partnership with Board President.
● Partner with Board of Directors to ensure organizational success including meeting annual goals.

Qualifications

Requirements:
● Demonstrate experience in nonprofit fundraising and operational management.
● Exceptional organizational and administrative capabilities, with a strong attention to detail.
● Outstanding communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with Google Workspace and DonorPerfect is highly desirable.
● Self-directed and capable of working independently.
● Deep commitment to supporting women who are at risk or currently incarcerated.
● Flexible schedule with the ability to work remotely; occasional evening and weekend availability required, particularly during program cycles in the Fall and Spring.
● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
