Description Expatiate Communications is seeking a UI/UX Designer who has a passion for creating intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces while also focusing on user experience to ensure seamless interaction with our digital products. The UI/UX Designer will be responsible for building a clean and effective user experience for our customers. By working cross-functionally, this candidate will understand the needs of the product management, engineering, and business stakeholders and will be able to build solutions that fit those needs. The UX/UI Designer will spend time combining great design with incredible technology. As a user interface designer at Expatiate Communications, you will be responsible for taking the amazing products our engineers create and building them into something beautiful and user-friendly. You'll be developing your ideas into mockups, wireframes, and front-end code.

Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000/yr DOE

Responsibilities - Design Standards: Ensure that established design standards are consistently and appropriately applied within design work.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Engage with product management, engineering, and business stakeholders to understand needs and build solutions.
- Front-End Development: Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to implement responsive and interactive user interfaces that align with design mockups.
- Documentation and Prototyping: Develop and present documentation, user flows, annotated wireframes, and interactive prototypes.
- User Testing: Leverage user testing to make product improvements and refine design solutions.
- Tool Proficiency: Utilize Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Sketch, and other prototyping tools effectively.
- User-Centric Design: Apply user research methodologies like Customer Journey Mapping and Jobs To Be Done theory to inform design strategy and business needs.
- Design Systems and Agile Methodologies: Implement design systems and work within agile methodologies to iterate and improve designs.
- Innovative Design: Take risks in design, push boundaries, and create impactful and memorable user experiences.
- Design System Management: Contribute to the development and maintenance of a design system to ensure consistency across products and platforms.
- Collaboration with Developers: Work closely with developers to ensure seamless implementation of designs and resolve any design-related issues during development.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in UI/UX design to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Project Management: Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines effectively.
- Stakeholder Communication: Communicate design concepts, rationale, and recommendations to stakeholders and gather feedback for iterative improvements.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Design, Computer Science, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in UI/UX design.
- Proficiency in visual design and wireframing tools.
- Experience in designing web apps, with a strong passion for typography, style, and understanding of A/B testing and user testing.
- Solid understanding and practical experience with front-end development technologies such as HTML, CSS, and vanilla JavaScript.
- Knowledge of web standards and a data-informed design philosophy.

Nice-to-Have - Advanced Coding: Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks like React or Vue.js.
- Advanced CSS: Proficiency with utility-first CSS frameworks like Tailwind CSS or component libraries such as Shadcn/ui.
- AI Tool Familiarity: Exposure to or a demonstrated eagerness to learn and apply AI-based tools for design, research, or content creation.
- Diverse Tooling: Experience with a wider range of design and collaboration tools, such as Canva for quick graphics or other specialized software.
- Content Strategy: Basic understanding of or experience with UI content creation and strategy.
