Steel Fabricator/Welder

Position Summary

Steel Forgings Inc. (SFI) is a leading manufacturer of custom butt weld fittings that has been servicing the oil and gas industry for over 70 years. SFI is seeking an experienced cylinder welder to join the SFI team.

Responsibilities

• Weld manufactured cylinder pipe using the following welding processes, SMAW, FCAW, and SAW.
• Weld per engineering specifications and follow manufacturing standard operating procedures.
• Performing visual and in-process weld inspections in accordance with API and ISO quality specifications.
• Help facilitate the team in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and solving welding problems that enhance through-put within the work team
• Required to pass periodic welding tests and qualifications in compliance with qualification procedures.
• Perform load rigging, torch cutting, and grinding as needed.
• Utilize various measuring tools to verify accuracy of welded product.
• Notify Plant Supervisor of non-conforming parts.
• Adherence to company safety policies and procedures. 
• Perform other duties in the plant as requested.

Knowledge & Experience, and Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of welding experience.
• Prior experience in completing weld certification test.
• Must be able to utilize micrometers, calipers and scales.
• Detail-oriented.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent movement including walking, standing, bending/stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, climbing and other active movements.
• Able to lift 50 pounds.
• Performing duties while wearing personal protective equipment.
• Working in temperature zones that may include hot environments for extended periods and may include work in environments where dust is present.
