Job Description

Description We are looking for an experienced Senior GL Accountant to join our team in San Leandro, California. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. The ideal candidate will excel in reconciliations, month-end processes, and leveraging financial systems to ensure compliance and efficiency. Responsibilities: + Prepare and submit journal entries for approval. + Analyze financial performance, highlighting variances with detailed reporting. + Review and reconcile accounts across cycles (e.g., bank, fixed assets, AP, accruals) with full documentation and analysis. + Manage bank reconciliations and ensure accurate cash-related entries. + Handle lease accounting for all store locations. + Coordinate with retail vendors to resolve billing discrepancies. + Act as the main contact for store-related accounting questions. + Research sales item taxability as needed. + Assist the Senior Manager with projects and create ad-hoc reports. + Maintain compliance with internal controls and accounting procedures. + Promote and implement best practices throughout assigned responsibilities. Requirements + Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. + 5-7 years of relevant experience or training. + Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. + Preferred background in retail and restaurant accounting. + Proven ownership of tasks and focus on improving processes. + Able to work independently and communicate across all organizational levels. + Strong communication and organizational abilities. + Capable of performing under pressure and meeting deadlines, especially during closing periods. + Experience with sales and use tax reporting. + Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. + ERP experience preferred, especially with SAP S/4HANA and Retail SAP.
