Job Description

Overview:

This position is responsible for managing all aspects of retail outlets in accordance with corporate policy; responsible for achieving revenue and customer service objectives; maintaining departmental policies and procedures; assists in developing and monitoring departmental budget to ensure profitable operation of all outlets. This position must also exhibit a high level of professional and personalized guest service that embodies the Company’s brand standard and core values (K.E.E.P. – Kindness, Engagement, Empathy and Positivity).  

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :  

 

  • Ensure departmental standards, guidelines and objectives are met.
  • Maintains other administrative processes, such as budget and staffing to ensure proper planning and efficient operation of assigned areas.
  • Hire, train, motivate, and manage staff to ensure proper staffing and that employees receive adequate guidance and resources to perform job responsibilities and meet departmental objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate retail outlet on a daily basis to ensure that customer needs are met and that the retail shop is operating on a profitable basis.
  • On a daily basis, maintains inventories at an acceptable level based upon historical seasonal sales records.
  • Assist in developing and creating merchandise displays that will lead to improved sales.
  • Responsible for the security and accuracy of assigned bank and is accountable for any and all overages and shortages.
  • Process invoices, packing slips, receiving documents, short shipments and skuing conflicts.
  • Conduct periodic inventories of merchandise and equipment in accordance with prescribed schedules; prepares required reports and acts as a liaison with retail shop supervisors of other hotels to ensure that Golden Nugget is employing the latest merchandising techniques.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Work in an environment that is subjected to varying levels of heat and noise, the severity of which depends upon customer volume.
  • Ability to organize/prioritize work, meet deadlines, work with minimal supervision/multiple interruptions, exercise judgment and adapt instructions/directions from one assignment to another.
  • Directs and actively participates with staff to assemble all floor moves.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and implement control over the performance of subordinates.
  • Schedule staff so that proper coverage is maintained while keeping payroll costs in line.
  • Knowledge of merchandising operations, to include appropriate staffing levels, service equipment and guest relations.
  • Supervise all staff including selection, training, counseling and discipline.
  • Ability to deal with a number of problems requiring initiative and good judgment.

  • Familiarity with and understanding of guidelines and sanitation procedures.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.

  • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Minimum age requirement is 21.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE :

Minimum of two years of supervisory/management experience in a retail operation, or through the completion of a high school degree or equivalent and three years’ experience in retail operations, two years of which must have been in a supervisory/managerial position.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Basic math skills.

Language Skills:

 

Must be able to speak and understand English.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

  • Ability to move throughout the hotel (standing, walking, kneeling, and bending) for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to express or exchange ideas verbally and perceive sound by ear.
  • Ability to regularly move objects (lift, push, pull, balance, carry) up to 50 pounds.
  • Constantly walking up to distances of 500 ft. during shift.
  • Frequently stooping, reaching.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

 

  • Work performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment. There are occasional hot and cold temperature changes.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a smoke-filled environment.
  • Work with others in close spaces.
  • Moderate to high noise levels.
  • Walk/stand on tile/mats/carpet/cement.
