Job Description

Description We are looking for a skilled Property Accountant to join our team in Los Angeles, California. This Contract position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to financial operations within the real estate industry. The ideal candidate will excel in managing accounts, preparing financial reports, and ensuring accuracy in property-related transactions. Responsibilities: - Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and portfolio-level reports. - Collaborate with Property Managers to address tenant accounting concerns, such as receivables and billing discrepancies. - Monitor and oversee the Accounts Receivable process, ensuring timely application of cash receipts and conducting tenant ledger reconciliations. - Manage the Accounts Payable process by reviewing invoice coding and maintaining a proper audit trail. - Track retail sales data and coordinate with the Lease Administration Manager to ensure timely billing. - Perform calculations for portfolio-level metrics, including late fees and management fees. - Review lease agreements to reconcile income and ensure accurate billing against rent rolls. - Supervise daily cash management activities, including auditing petty cash and updating cash balances. - Assist in annual budget preparation by calculating depreciation, amortization, debt service, and common area charges. - Prepare annual reconciliations for common area expenses and work with Property Management to address tenant inquiries. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. - Minimum of four years of experience in real estate accounting. - Proficiency in accrual accounting, month-end close processes, and general ledger management. - Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. - Familiarity with Yardi software is highly preferred. - Strong analytical abilities and knowledge of lease language and reconciliation calculations. - Excellent communication and customer service skills with a high degree of attention to detail. - Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while maintaining confidentiality.
