Patient Care Assistant (CNA or CMA)

Location: Escondido, CA

Compensation: $20-$23 per hour

About the Role:

As a Patient Care Assistant, you will work under the guidance of a licensed nurse to provide essential support services to patients. Your primary focus will be ensuring patient safety, supervision, and support during night hours. This dynamic position also involves assisting with light housekeeping and clerical duties, contributing to a clean and organized facility.

What You'll Do:

• Patient Monitoring & Supervision: Monitor patients throughout the night, conduct hourly room checks, and assist with evening and morning patient care, including personal hygiene and meal supervision.

• Communication & Reporting: Document and communicate patient behavior, concerns, or incidents to the nurse, ensuring smooth transitions between shifts.

• Housekeeping & Facility Maintenance: Perform light housekeeping, laundry, and organize patient supplies to maintain a clean and comfortable environment.

• Documentation & Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient interactions.

• Regulatory Compliance & Safety: Ensure compliance with all regulations and facility policies.

• Administrative & Clerical Support: Assist with various administrative tasks and complete required paperwork.

What We're Looking For:

• Graduate of an accredited Certified Nursing (CNA) / Medical Assistant (MA) program OR currently enrolled in a Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Aid, or Nursing School program OR experience working in a residential treatment facility.

• High School Diploma or GED.

• Demonstrates initiative and good judgment with a great attitude and willingness to help.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team during shifts.

• Must provide documentation of, or obtain, CPR / BLS certification within 2 weeks of employment.

• Comfortable eating meals in a group setting and modeling positive eating habits.

• Comfortable working in a small, cross-functional team environment, with flexibility to assist in various tasks.

• Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

• Willingness to transport patients.

• Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This role requires the ability to work inside a clean, well-lit, and well-ventilated medical facility. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear and frequently use hands. Occasional standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be required. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities are required. The noise level is usually moderate, and occasional exposure to bodily fluids may occur.
