Job Location – Watertown, WI

Employment Term – Temp- to - Hire

Employment Type – Full-Time

Work Hours (Shift) – 1st Shift (6:00am – 2:30pm)

Starting Pay – $17

Required Education – High School Diploma/GED

Required Experience – At least 1-3 years of experience

Lathe Operator job involves setting up, operating, and maintaining machines to form bends, beads, or knurls in metal sheets, or to flatten, temper, or reduce the gauge of materials. The operator also needs to understand metalworking processes and interpret technical drawings to ensure accurate and efficient production. 

  Responsibilities:

• Setting up and operating rolling machines:  This includes preparing the machine for use, setting controls to achieve desired results, and monitoring the process to ensure proper operation and quality. 
• Interpreting technical drawings and specifications:  Following blueprints and instructions to determine the correct methods and sequences for forming metal sheets. 
• Monitoring machine cycles and operation:  Detecting potential problems like jamming or deviations from specifications, and making adjustments as needed. 
• Measuring and verifying dimensions:  Ensuring that finished products meet the required specifications through accurate measurements. 
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving:  Identifying and resolving issues that arise during the machining process. 
• Maintaining and cleaning equipment:  Keeping the machines and work area clean and in good working order. 
• Adhering to safety rules:  Following established safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment. 

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent:  Basic education is essential for understanding instructions and communicating effectively. 
• Relevant work experience:  Experience as a lathe operator, machinist, or in metalworking can be beneficial. 
• Strong mechanical aptitude:  A good understanding of machines and their operation is necessary. 
• Ability to read technical drawings:  Understanding blueprints and specifications is crucial for accurate work. 
• Familiarity with precision measuring tools:  Accurate measurements are essential for quality control. 
• Basic math and computer skills:  These skills are often needed for programming and operating machines. 
• Knowledge of machining principles and materials:  A solid understanding of metalworking processes is required. 
• Good communication and teamwork skills:  Collaboration with other team members is important for efficient operation. 
• Physical ability to lift and stand:  This role often requires lifting materials and standing for extended periods.
