Transportation Maintenance Specialist 1 – Highway Maintenance Striping Specialist (Temporary)

Salary: $3,856 – $5,325 (Per month)

A day in the life:

·         Perform manual labor and operate heavy and light equipment.

·         Apply, maintain and replace roadway/highway striping and road markings.

·         Remove existing paint using sand blasting or grinding equipment.

·         Operate and maintain striping equipment and vehicles.

·         Work closely with hazardous materials such as epoxy, paints, thermoplastics, thinners and acetones.

·         Collaborate with contractors to help determine layout of road markings and striping.

·         Use all types of hand tools.

·         Work in and around heavy construction equipment and stay in compliance with safety policy.

·         Must be able to move around rough terrain, on uneven slopes and may need to lift up to 60 pounds.

·         May be required to be available for emergency calls 24 hours/day, 7 days a week, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

·         May need to travel throughout the region for various stripping projects.

·         Weather conditions such as rain or temperatures can significantly impact the striping schedule and workload.

Minimum qualifications:

Six months experience operating heavy or light motorized equipment, using hand and power tools, performing minor servicing of equipment, and applying safety procedures.

 

Special qualifications:

This position requires a maximum 45 minute response time to 2775 25th Street SE, Salem, OR 97302 for emergency call-outs.

Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.

This position requires the final candidate obtain their Public Pesticide Applicator’s license within six months of hire.
