Freight Dispatcher

Job Summary: 

D-Trans LLC is seeking an experienced and proactive Freight Dispatcher to coordinate the daily movement of freight across our nationwide network. The ideal candidate will ensure timely pickups and deliveries, maintain excellent communication with drivers and customers, and support overall operational efficiency.
This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-driven environment. Knowledge of load boards is a must — or the ability to learn quickly and come prepared.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Coordinate and schedule pickups, deliveries, and tracking of freight shipments.
• Monitor shipment progress to ensure on-time delivery and proactively resolve any issues.
• Maintain open and professional communication with drivers, customers, and carriers.
• Update and manage order statuses within the Transportation Management System (TMS).
• Prepare and handle necessary documentation, including bills of lading and rate confirmations.
• Notify customers promptly of delays or potential service disruptions.
• Multilingual is a plus (Russian, Ukrainian, or Spanish preferred).
• Monitor driver hours of service (HOS) to ensure full DOT compliance.
• Plan and optimize driver routes while scheduling required rest periods and breaks.
• Negotiate freight rates to maintain competitive margins.
• Utilize and manage load boards efficiently to secure freight opportunities.
• Collaborate closely with the operations team to ensure smooth workflow and service consistency.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation laws.

Requirements and Qualifications: 

• High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in freight dispatching or logistics preferred.
• Solid understanding of DOT regulations and hours-of-service requirements — or must be willing to learn independently and come prepared.
• Proficient in load board platforms (e.g., DAT, Truckstop), TMS systems, and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
• Must be a team player with a positive, collaborative attitude.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
• Customer-focused mindset and professional demeanor.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or on-call as needed.
