Job Title: Food Safety Supervisor
Job Overview:
Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking a Food Safety Supervisor to join our client to oversee sanitation practices and ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards in a food production facility. This direct-hire role, based in the Jersey City, NJ area, plays a key part in safeguarding product integrity by leading sanitation staff, enforcing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and maintaining audit readiness. The supervisor will partner closely with operations and quality teams to uphold a safe, efficient, and compliant environment.
Compensation:
$65,000 – $72,000 annually
Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday; 3:30 PM – 11:30 PM
Key Responsibilities of the Food Safety Supervisor:
• Lead, train, and mentor a team of sanitation staff to maintain high standards of food safety and facility cleanliness
• Ensure compliance with sanitation schedules, GMP requirements, and audit standards by monitoring, documenting, and adjusting procedures as needed
• Perform inspections and verification testing (e.g., ATP, allergen, or microbial checks) to confirm sanitation effectiveness and address any corrective actions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support production schedules, address food safety risks, and implement process improvements
• Manage sanitation supply inventory, pest control oversight, and facility closing procedures to ensure a safe and secure operation
Qualifications and Skills for the Food Safety Supervisor:
• 2–5 years of supervisory experience in sanitation, food safety, or quality control within food manufacturing, healthcare, or pharmaceutical environments
• Strong knowledge of HACCP, SQF, GMP, and food safety standards; HACCP certification preferred
• Degree in food science, chemistry, biology, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills strongly preferred; ability to document and communicate effectively
• Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities while promoting teamwork and accountability
