About Baton Rouge

Located on the banks of the Mississippi river in southeastern Louisiana, Baton Rouge is the state capital with more than 800,000 residents (the second largest city in the state). Famous for its fusion of cultures, Southern hospitality, diverse cuisine and college football, it is also a significant port and a major industrial and petrochemical center.

Our Baton Rouge operations began in 1909 and have grown into an integrated complex that includes the Baton Rouge Refinery, the third largest refinery in the United States, the Baton Rouge Chemical Plant and several other plants and terminals. Its scope of products produced includes everything from traditional gasoline and diesel fuel to sophisticated chemical compounds that are used in diapers, shampoos, truck bed liners, makeup, crayons and hundreds more!

As the second largest employer in the state, our daily challenges include safely operating eight interconnected sites on a round-the-clock basis. We’re required to constantly adjust and respond to fluctuating markets and resource availability. We oversee the production of more than 2.9 billion pounds of products annually, while constantly searching for ways to improve and optimize our operations.

Our Baton Rouge complex is known for more than its size. In 2016, three of the six manufacturing plants that received Distinguished Safety Awards by the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers association were located at the Baton Rouge complex.

What role you will play in our team.

• This position is in the maintenance organization primarily performing job duties associated preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, scope and repair, and equipment calibration.
• Location: ExxonMobil Baton Rouge Complex - Baton Rouge, Louisiana

What you will do

• Complete all work duties with safety as the number one priority, adhering to all safety procedures and programs utilized by ExxonMobil.
• Performing Preventative Maintenance.
• Troubleshooting and repair of malfunctioning equipment.
• Performing equipment calibrations.
• Maintaining control systems.
• Improving equipment reliability.

About you

Skills and Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Safety first attitude and willingness to adhere to and fully utilize the ExxonMobil safety programs.
• Currently possess or be able to qualify for a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
• Currently possess or be able to qualify for a valid driver’s license.
• Minimum 5 years craft experience in similar industry.
• Able and willing to work nights, holidays, overtime, and other call out as needed.
• Able and willing to work in inclement weather, climb structures and perform work at heights.
• Be able to successfully complete all the requirements of the apprenticeship program.
• Ability to communicate effectively and willingness to work integrated with other crafts.
• Satisfactorily complete pre-employment background, medical, and drug screening.
• Successful completion of the ExxonMobil Pre-employment Test. 

Preferred Qualifications / Experience

• Demonstrated Personal responsibility for safety.
• Trade school training preferred.
• Flexibility to work on different equipment and in various areas as needed.
• Ability to work independent of direct supervision with imitative to resolve maintenance malfunctions as they arise.
• Desire to be a safety leader.
• Demonstrated ability to work as a contributing team member.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair analyzer and PLC systems.
