Duties As an Infant Care Specialist, you will:
- Provide responsive, individualized care to infants and toddlers (8 weeks – 18 months).
- Plan developmentally appropriate, individual and group activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive and emotional growth.
- Support our philosophy by learning how to implement a play-based, loose parts approach
- Create a warm, safe, and stimulating environment where infants feel secure and thrive.
- Ensure a healthy classroom environment – including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
- Partner with families to ensure continuity of care and celebrate developmental milestones.
- Collaborate with colleagues to uphold best practices in early childhood education.
Requirements Our Infant Care Specialist know they must:
- Be dependable and able to maintain a consistent schedule.
- Commit to child development, best practices and play-based learning.
- Understand infant development and responsive caregiving practices.
- Be warm, nurturing, and patient.
- Have the ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators and communicate effectively with families.
- Have the ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels. May also be required to kneel, bend, squat or crawl.
- Be able to see up close and up to a certain distance, to see colors, have peripheral vision and depth perception.
- Work to attain excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Nice To Haves But Not Required
- Previous experience working with infants in a childcare, preschool, or nanny setting.
- CDA (Infant/Toddler) or progress toward certification preferred; willingness to pursue professional development required.
