Job Description

We are seeking reliable Dietary Aides with a desire to grow and learn to join our dining team of  EMPLOYEE OWNERS at our client site, a premier senior living community in Hilton Head, SC.

The Dietary Aide is responsible for the daily efficient operation of the dietary needs in the Skilled Nursing Department (Fraser) by establishing and enforcing courteous, efficient, pleasant, and accurate food and beverage service to all residents and/or resident’s guests.

The content of this job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work expectations performed by incumbents in this classification. All activities are completed in accord with the mission, vision, and values of the Company, following all policies, procedures,

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Facilitates the set-up of the dining room, prep food for dining, check with Dietitian to ensure dietary food changes, update menus according to Dietitian’s specs
  2. Meets with the Dietitian three times a month to discuss review of residential needs
  3. Ensures correct place settings at tables
  4. Ensure that dishes are taken to the dishwashing area
  5. Maintains high visibility in the dining rooms during meals
  6. Resolves customer complaints and ensures customer satisfaction
  7. Help resolve any staffing challenges that may arise
  8. Updates diet roster with diet changes. Allergies and texture, meds etc.
  9. Provides accurate meal counts to the cooks according to diet and textures
  10. Serve meals to residents in accordance with prescribed diets and resident requests
  11. Portions food for service and ensure that prep work has been completed to meet
  12. Established standards with portion control and plate presentation
  13. Understands the role therapeutic diets have in resident care
  14. Assumes responsibility for menus for new residents. Supports dietitian in setting up new resident preferences in accordance with diet and medication
  15. Always ensure cleanliness in all dining areas and service areas
  16. Ensure all food is labeled and dated correctly according to DHEC standards
  17. Responsible for all sanitation checklists in kitchens and dining rooms
  18. Complies with uniform standards and service standards, including food temperature compliance and proper sanitation
  19. Keeps information safe and confidential
  20. Upholds food safety standards and consistently follows handwashing, glove usage and hair net standards
  21. Assists in seating of residents when needed
  22. Uses proper PPE

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

• This position may be full-time or part-time in a health care facility that is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as weekends, holiday, and work during inclement weather will be required.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED

• 1-3 Years Diet Aide experience preferred

• Strong proactive and efficient work ethic

• Ability to function in a fast-paced environment, with competing priorities and deadlines

• Experience in and the ability to drive a performance-based culture

• Demonstrated interpersonal communication, verbal and written

• Comfortable and agile working with technology; Proficient in MS Office and other applications.

• Strong analytical, assessment, and problem-solving capabilities

• Strong relationship building and influencing skills

 

Certification and Licensure Requirements:

• SERV Safe Certificate
