We have an excellent new job opportunity for a Clinical Research Nurse in our BATBIO Department. The incumbent will manage clinical and normal-donor research projects, including screening and consent. Perform leukapheresis collections as needed. Ensures adherence to Bloodworks policies, ASFA guidelines, AABB standards, and FACT regulations.

Principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist in the development of unit SOPs and procedures surrounding leukapheresis in support of research for Bloodworks clients.
  • Provide oversight for clinical research trials involving donors and patients.
  • Perform as a liaison between Bloodworks, Biotech, Pharma, and other healthcare clients.
  • Coordinates day-to-day study-related procedures, including the flow of documents and information between BAT staff and clients. Collaborate with study coordinators on the day-to-day flow of donors. Handle scheduling, screening, and reviewing of the regular donor program participants as needed.
  • Coordinate with study sponsor(s)/clients for validated shippers, supplies, and any other items.
  • Assist with the preparation of the study site for sponsor/client audits, regulatory audits, and any other type of site visit requested by the study sponsor/client or regulatory agency.
  • Collaborate with research team members and other Bloodworks research staff to manage internal processes.
  • Create, modify, maintain, and transmit electronic records in a controlled and approved manner in conformance with FDA requirements.
  • Maintain current Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval and adhere to IRB guidelines.
  • Provide colleagues with education on study training, ongoing research procedures, and policies.
  • Perform leukapheresis collections as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS :
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; B.S.N. preferred.
  • Current R.N. license from the State of Washington.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent clinical experience in nursing.
  • Minimum 2 years of prior experience managing clinical research projects. Experience with transfusion administration and blood banking is preferred.
  • Experience with regulatory paperwork and Institutional Review Boards for research involving human subjects is strongly recommended.

  • Required physical activities include frequent standing, sitting, walking, talking, hearing, reaching, handling, and feeling for venipuncture duties. Required physical activities used less frequently include bending, stooping, kneeling, and repetitive hand/wrist motions for typing, as well as repetitive foot motions. Crawling and climbing are used rarely.
  • The Ability to push, pull, and lift an average of 25 pounds throughout the day is required, as is the Ability to occasionally carry an average of 25 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Extensive computer/viewing monitor work.
  • This position has direct exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
  • Telecommuting is not offered in this role.
  • Bloodworks is a community-supported non-profit organization. As such, the incumbent can expect to work with volunteers on a regular basis.
